Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Gulzar Ahmed ordered to check the educational credentials of police officers across the country.
According to Express News, a meeting of the Police Reforms Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed in which the Chief Justice issued an order to check the degrees of police officers across the country.
The Chief Justice said that all the IGs should verify the educational credentials of the officers and personnel, adding that the IGs should have the power to transfer police to eliminate unnecessary pressure.
He said that in order to differentiate between terrorism and ordinary cases, court decisions should be kept in view and unnecessary arrests should be made in controversial cases.
The Chief Justice also summoned the Home Secretary and the provincial chief secretaries in the next meeting to implement police reforms.
