US State Department welcomes Pak-India ceasefire agreement

The US State Department has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

In this regard, the White House spokesman said that he welcomes the joint declaration of Pakistan and India regarding the ceasefire on the LOC.

The spokesperson said that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India on the LOC is a positive development for peace and stability in South Asia but wider peace and stability in South Asia is in the interest of all of us.

In this regard, it was further stated that the United States encourages both countries to further this progress on this agreement.

The spokesman said that Pakistan is an important partner of the United States and most of its interests are shared.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the agreement between Indian and Pakistani militants to observe a ceasefire on the Line of Control in the disputed Kashmir region as a “positive step”.

It may be recalled that the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India on the Line of Control was agreed to be strictly implemented.

The commitment to adhere strictly to ceasefire agreements and understandings in the LoC and all other sectors was reiterated.

The two sides also agreed to maintain hotline contacts and resolve unforeseen situations and misunderstandings through border flag meetings.
